What happens when we make donations to Bala Mandir USA?
Funds collected by Bala Mandir USA are remitted periodically to Bala Mandir India. Bala Mandir USA has virtually no administrative overheads except for the nominal wire transfer charges associated with each remittance. The donors get an acknowledgement and receipt from Bala Mandir USA. They also get reports on how the money is utilised. If the donor is sponsoring an activity or children’s education the details of the child / activity is also shared with the donors through reports that come from Bala Mandir India.
2. Will I get regular updates on the use of the funds and Bala Mandir activities?
Yes. A regular mailer will be sent to all donors and well wishers.
3. What are the major funding needs for Bala Mandir India?
Based on the theme “Every Child Matters”, all the activities of Bala Mandir are growing in terms of scale and social impact. To sustain these activities Bala Mandir needs increased funding support. The two new activities of Bala Mandir have been identified for specific focus by the US team – (a) Kinship Care programme and (b) The Early Childhood Care and Development support of Anganwadis in Tiruvallur District. 4. How can I volunteer to support the Bala Mandir activities?
Volunteers based in US can help in creating awareness about Bala Mandir India activities to their friends and families and thereby help in the fund raising activity. They can also volunteer for online direct support to children through the Happy Reading programme. Details of this can be got from the Volunteer section.
5. Can I visit Bala Mandir when I visit Chennai? Can my children do short term volunteering in Bala Mandir Chennai? What kind of work can they do?
Bala Mandir welcomes visitors to visit the Chennai facility based at No. 8, G.N.Chetty Road, T. Nagar in Chennai to see first hand the work that is happening and understand the organisation. The Bala Mandir Home offers various opportunities for the children of the US visitors to do community service in India during their visit which helps develop empathy and understanding of the problems faced by children. Students could conduct projects along with the Home children or teach the younger children in areas of their interest. Bala Mandir would be happy to provide a certificate of service for the volunteers. Please contact us to discuss specific details.
